Rayon Will Start Its Addition Soon (February 29, 1940)
Ground may be broken next week for the $4,000,000 plant expansion at Painesville, it was stated yesterday by Hayden B. Kline, vice president, Industrial Rayon Corp. Kline said those in charge of instruction said there was not sufficient frost in the ground to prevent immediately starting.
The expansion would be an addition to the huge rayon plant that was completed December, 1938, and which has been operating at capacity since August.
It is understood Industrial Rayon plants in Cleveland and Covington, Va., are also running full and the company is booked ahead about 60 days.
Stockholders at the annual meeting yesterday increased the board from 9 to 11 and elected I. C. Collins, President of Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., Lancaster, O., and George P. Torrence, vice president and general manager of the Rayon Machinery Corp. to the board.
